Places

I went for a walk today (April 6th '25) as it was nice and sunny. I like going to places I haven't been before, I bring my bino's and a compass, park up in a layby near any random wood I've spotted on google maps, and have a good root round! I usually find something interesting, today I found a semi-abandoned commune!

Love Shack Baby!

The first thing I noticed was this shack. Intrigued, I had a snoop, then the area opened out to reveal more shacks!

This shack was attached to a vehicle, some kind of MAN flatbed in a serious state of jalopy-hood

It had a door... That wasn't locked... In I went!

It was musty and cobwebby, but undeniably inviting. It had a leaded window, very posh!

It had a wood burner, and a communal area.

It had a solar panel on the roof, producing 14 volts, and outside it had a little bug shack for the bees!

Around the corner was a latrine, with some bog roll. I was tempted to have a pooh, just to fully immerse myself in the vibe!

There were a couple of polytunnels with some opportunistic greenery growing within.

And a small tree, that will apparently produce pommegranates at some point in the future!

And there I shall leave it for now!

I'll probably go back and have another look at this place at some point. I saw signs that people were using it as recently as last year ('24) - maybe they they were there all along but have special Druid invisibiliy powers!

I hope to add more Places, as I have many to add! I'll probably do a few local roamings intially, but at some point I'd like to add my spelunking adventure in Cappadocia (I'll have to dig out the photos), and other stuff from travelling around Europe, Kenya, Afghanistan, Thailand and the Philipines. I've never bothered putting much of it on Facebook or social media, I was an early distruster of that shit-show!

Cound

Cound is a place, not a derogatory remark

You should never call someone a Cound, they might mishear you

Cound is also a stream, not a stream of expletives, but a wet one made of water

Cound is also a brook, made of narrower water

Cound is also a village, there's Upper Cound, Cound Moor, Cound this, Cound that...

The grass is well kept in Cound. The sheep do an excellent job.

There are nice pools in Cound, the water does an excellent job

Affluent people live in Cound, in fancy houses

There are holes in Cound, where fancy houses used to be

There are ancient ruins in Cound, so old even the ghosts have died

There are ancient bridges in Cound, so old they have trees growing through them

Is there anything Cound cannot do!
